Arkansas from the window of the truck as we drove to Aux Arc

Our campsite is lovely, with a view of the dam
" Ozark Jeta Taylor Lock & Dam built in 1969 on a sweeping bend in the Arkansas River, both the lake and neighboring town got their name from the French – “Aux Arc” (pronounced Ozark) meaning the Big Bend."
View from the covered picnic table at our campsite.

Still some Fall leaves on the trees here.

We set up and then tuned in to see Fr Bob
be ordained an auxiliary bishop.
Fr Bob at the beginning of the ordination
the chosen 3

Bishop Robert Lombardo
and a row of very happy proud nuns.
Congratulations Bishop Bob!  God Bless

It's Saturday, game day this afternoon and trivia tonight,
great morning to do some chores.

The town of Ozark is just across the river.
We headed off to town, did the laundry, washed the truck, refilled one
of the propane tanks and bought groceries.
 Nothing photo worthy, just reality.
Bridge over the Arkansas River.
Ozark mountains on a cloudy day.

Picked up some Arkansas barbeque from Riverfront Barbecue.
A rack of ribs, 2 pieces of brisket onion rings, corn and sweet potato fries.
This razorback was delicious and enough food for
two meals.  The sweet potato fries came with a
brown sugar, butter and maple syrup that was addictive.
It reminded me of mixing butter and brown sugar to make cookies.

This is a camper in our campground.  She has 5 Irish setters
and they all travel together.  That is nuts.  Five dogs in a house
is too many, in an RV? Ridiculous.

ND game
IRISH win!

The Highlanders virtually got together for Wayside Trivia Night
Jon & Nikki, Marc & Luke, Kim & John, Dani & TJ along with Jim & I
If only they gave points for furthest contestants, Dani & TJ played in California
while Jim and I played from Arkansas.

We scored numerous points but not as many as others so we will not
be putting our names on the trophy this year.
Thanks to the organizers it was a fun night on Zoom.

Three things we did not know:
(there were more but let's see if you know these 3 things)
question 1: This state is the only state with a triple divide allowing water to flow into the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans.

answer: Montana -Triple Divide Peak (8,025 feet (2,446 m)) is located in the Lewis Range, part of the Rocky Mountains in North America. The peak is a feature of Glacier National Park in the state of Montana in the United States. Feeds to the Arctic via Hudson Bay.

question 2: The world-famous Mashed Potato Wrestling contest is held in this state.

answer: South Dakota The small town of Clark throws a party for their favorite starch every year that includes awards for “Best Potato Dish” and “Best Decorated Potato,” but it’s the mashed potato wrestling that makes this celebration truly unique.

question 3: What is Joe Exotic a.k.a the Tiger King’s real name?

answer: Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage  and frankly we were proud not to know this one

Sunday funday, right Laura?
We drove to the other side of the Arkansas River to Reed Mountain Park.
Bluff River Trail did have some lovely views.

We should have known there would be stairs involved,
fortunately most of them were downhill.

It's always good to be out in the woods on a beautiful day.

The hillside was very rocky.

Across the Arkansas river is our campground.

Ozark-Jetta lock and dam.  Not much barge traffic while we were here.
Friday night we saw the lights of a barge, too dark to see much more.
We did hear and see a lot of trains, perhaps they are moving all the cargo.

The Arkansas river bends in both directions.

Some rare flat farmland in the Ozarks.

Soaking in the sunshine at the Overlook at Reed Mountain Park.
