Cowles Bog Trail

 Today we hiked the 4.5 mile Cowles Bog Trail, and to be fair, it's not really a bog it is a fen since it has an underwater source.  So come take the trail with us 

It starts level and shady with views of the some marsh

Then it gets sandy just in time to go uphill

Ah, the lake is ahead let's keep on hiking

Just a little more uphill sandy trail before the beach

and then there it is the hard sand of the beach for some easy walking

I believe this is the Black Oak Savannah, almost hard to believe this is a dune except of course for the sandy trail.

And yes, there is enough moisture for this fun fungus to flourish.

Good work you just finished a 4.5 mile virtual hike.

Jim heated up some Curry Chicken over an open flame in our Dutch oven.
