The Trolley Turner
June 6, 2021
Today we stopped at the Trolley Turner, another Harvest Host location.
Here is the trolley that inspired the name but it was never used as a travelling wood shop like it was originally thought of. It is in front of the 4 car garage that is the wood shop.
This is Boris the wood turner in his shop. You can see some finished products on the shelves next to him. The little girl and her family as well as another young family were also here with us.
Boris had an injury so Jim helped out with a few things and was first up on the lathe starting with the bark covered piece of wood.
Here is a video of Jim on the lathe.
Working the lathe was pretty straight forward and Jim caught on right away.
I also got a turn at working the lathe. It was intimidating at first, but then you ease into it and its fun.
Boris got up to the lathe and then the chips really started to fly.
His vision is to be able to share a love of wood turning with others, and he did just that with us today.
Boris working on the inside of a bowl.
On the left is the mallet that Jim and I turned. On the right is the finished bottle opener that Boris made and we bought.
Boris has more than one lathe, the largest one is his 8 foot long one that is outside.
We went into Pueblo and had a great dinner at Cracker Barrel compliments of Andy.
Thanks Andy, it was delicious.
Here is the endless view from our overnight spot here at the Trolley Turner.
It was a great field trip. Next stop Rocky Mountain National Park.
So will Jim be purchasing a lathe and other woodworking tools when you return.
ReplyDeleteRMNP one of our favorites, from what I’ve seen on FB there is still snow around and on some shaded parts of the trails. Excited for your pictures. We will be there in about a month.

I'm liking these Harvest Host spots. Something different at each one you've chosen along the way.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy the "field trip" like adventure of some Harvest Host stops.
