August Monthly Summary
Monthly Review August
Places visited:
- Wissota State Park Chippewa
Falls, WI
- Highlight, Melissa, Mark and the kids came out for a
few days of fun on the water in kayaks and on a pontoon boat, it is a big
lake so lots to explore on the water.
- Lowlight, only one dump station for 116 sites, just
have to wait your turn which makes arriving and departing take longer
than it should.
- Nice Park with wooded sites, Lake Wissota is a big
lake was able to kayak and pontoon around the lake with the grandkids,
Melissa and Mark.
- High Pines Campground
Eagle River, WI
- Highlight, crazy trail around campground was like parkour
climbing and jumping around fallen trees.
- Lowlight, just an overnight, but they say they have
internet, but no connection.
- We got gas and looked at Eagle Lake, one of the many
lakes around here, nice.
- Porcupines Mountain Wilderness Park Ontonagon, MI
- Highlight, the night sky, so many stars and then the
meteor shower!
- Lowlight, the campground is so open you can see every
campsite from yours.
- Hiking here is good, loved the hike along Presque Isle
River and Summit Peak.
- Madison Campground De
Forest, WI
- Highlight, nearby a farm stand with fresh corn and
blueberries.
- Lowlight, a little highway noise.
- Overnight spot to break the drive home into 2 parts.
- Back at Home Arlington Heights, IL
- Highlight, renter left mid-month, so we came back 2
weeks early skipping out on 2 more weeks in Michigan.
- Lowlight, the furniture won’t be delivered for 3 days
- Dorothy is right, there is no place like home.
Our overall favorite place was Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park. The weather was rainy the first few days
which made the sunshine seem so wonderful.
Hiking along the Presque Isle River with 3 waterfalls and numerous
cascades was a treat. The campground siting on Lake Superior made it easy for
me to spend lots of time on the lakeshore enjoying the water and view.
Our favorite trail Presque Isle River Trail, I am a sucker for all that moving
water.
Our favorite day in August was renting a pontoon boat and Lily Pad to take
Melissa, Mark, Braden, Evan, Kayla, and Claire on a 5 hour of Lake Wissota. The kids had a great time during 2 swim
breaks especially with the Lily Pad to romp on.
We all enjoyed the boat ride and Braden drove a boat for the first time.
My favorite people picture is of all the
grandkids on the lily pad. My favorite nature is a close-up of the Presque Isle River
It has been great "riding along" with you both via the blog. Thanks for sharing your adventures. And now happy to see your smiling faces back at home!
