Backroom Brewery
September 16, 2020
We were on the road today starting in Pennsylvania and passing thru Maryland and West Virginia before arriving here in Virginia.
This is some of the beautiful scenery in Pennsylvania.
And here is what our dashboard looks like while we drive
On the left is a rear view camera, upper right is the RV GPS - we input our height and weight and it sets a path that keeps us on roads that suit our size ( no bridges too low for example). The lower right is the tire monitor, top number is the PSI and the bottom number is the temperature; it rolls through all eight tires. It's the navigators job to watch the tire pressure and report if anything is out of line that might cause a blowout. The bottom left is the radio which is usually turned all the way down.
We are staying at a Harvest Host in Middletown, VA tonight, Backroom Brewery. Harvest Hosts are breweries, farms, or wineries that let you stay for free on their property overnight. This one is very laid back, we asked where to park and the host said anywhere in the back. As a guest you are asked, but not required to buy a little something from the Host.
I had a lavender gimlet and Jim had a flight: Live Edge Lager, Appalachian Hefeweizen, Festival Wheat, and a Backroom Blonde with some chips and salsa. Besides being a brewery there is also an herb farm (so the lavender for my gimlet was grown on the property). We also had dinner, a cheeseburger and a turkey reuben. Jim had the Ferminator with dinner; a Scotch Ale. While my gimlet was so nice I had it twice, one with the chips and one with dinner.
Tomorrow we hope to secure a first come first serve campsite inside Shenandoah National Park, keep a good thought that a site is available for us when we arrive.
Interesting to see all that goes into pulling an RV. That looks like large beer flights. Good luck with campsite. I know you are not on a firm schedule but when do you plan to head to the northeast?
ReplyDeleteIt got moved to the end of the route, so next Spring
