Clear Creek State Park
Today (9/10/2020) we took a short drive over to Clear Creek State Park to do some hiking. Once again our route consisted of numerous trails, it went something like this: Started at picnic shelter #5 hiked the Korb Trail to the Big Coon Trail that hooked us up to the Clear Creek Trail where we crossed the creek to hike the Ox Shoe Trail then crossed back over the creek and back on the Clear Creek Trail again for a while then crossed back over the creek to the Radcliffe Trail until it ran into the Phyllis Run Trail which we hopped off for the Phyllis Run Short Loop Trail to end up back at Shelter #5 for a picnic lunch by the water. It measured up to a 4.5 mile hike which took us 2 hours and 17 minutes to complete.
The area we hiked today had much younger trees, as it was all cleared out by loggers in the late 1800's. Other trees here we of good height, but none had the diameter of the trees yesterday in the Forest Cathedral of Cook Forest.
The area was well maintained, even with evidence of an old bridges tossed aside.
The walk was forested which meant we spent a good deal of it in the shade. It almost looks like a fake background compared to our bright faces.
Clear Creek sparkles in the woods.
Come along with us on the Radcliffe Trail, the first blaze is in the forefront, can you see the next one? I was very happy for the trail blazes here since the path often did not seem obvious but rather wide open.
