Christmas 2020

 Christmas 2020

When setting out on this adventure I was most concerned with what the holidays
would be like, would I be sad away from home, family and friends?
Well with CoVid keeping most families apart this year, I think our
holiday like others, were a Zoom kind of Christmas.

We had a call with our Dinner Club Friends on the 23rd
A Zoom game night with Jim's side of the family on the 24th
and a Google Meet with our kids on Christmas Day.

We stayed true to some of our holiday traditions
Made Western Omelet for Christmas Breakfast.
It did seem like a bigger deal when it overtook the dinette table.

We added a touch of our local surroundings by using local crab
to make a Crab Rangon Dip for Christmas Eve.
Not wanting to fry wonton wrappers in the RV we settled on Tortilla Chips
to dip with the Crab Rangoon Dip.  It worked well.
All served up on our roll-up table Christmas gift to ourselves.

I did not do the 12 Days of Cookies this year,
but I was thrilled to get this package of
delicious cookies from Matt & Lorna's kitchen.
What a joy it is to get cookies.

Traditionally, we go to mass at our parish church.
And thanks to YouTube we were able to "go" to
Christmas mass at Our Lady of the Wayside.
Another wonderful gift.

We dined on some Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls
while the Western Omelet baked up.

Enjoyed the Nutcracker also with the assistance of YouTube.
 Santa was able to find us and fill our stockings with treats;
some traditions bring out the kid in all of us.

A walk on the beach has not been a tradition for us
but we did enjoy it today.
We meet Sandy the snowman and wished
a Merry Christmas to others enjoying the day at the beach.

I was able to message with my siblings and share photos.
Celebrations were in Texas, Virgina, Ohio,
Colorado and Illinois.  Separate but Together,
I hope that soon we can all celebrate together again.

Our children were in Illinois, Oregon and Wyoming.
I am happy they all are safe, happy and healthy.

Follow precautions, wear a mask, stay healthy.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

  1. "Every tradition we hold dear was once a new idea someone proposed, tried, and found valuable, often inspired by a previous tradition that had been outgrown."

  2. Looks like a very Merry Christmas, not much different than everyone else had this year.
Curious how you are able to receive packages (the cookies).

    1. The RV campground allows delivery from UPS and FedEx (they do not let you forward your mail here). If you are at your RV when they drive a golf cart around in the afternoon it gets drop off to you in person. If you are not around then the office calls you and lets you know you have a package and to come to the office to pick it up. Not all campgrounds do this, so it was a great perk.
