Galveston Island Day One
December 1, 2020
We have arrived to our spot for all of December.
Yes, the whole month. In order to avoid freezing temperatures we are taking
the advice of snowbirds and hunkering down by the ocean for a piece of the winter.
We can see the Gulf of Mexico from our RV door, and out the side and back of the RV windows.
Here is the view out our RV door.
We can also see West Bay when we look in the opposite direction
And finally a video so you can hear
The bay is farther away. Which is okay, it's the Gulf side that has a beach.
And this is all great, because our original spot had an electrical panel that would
have been our view out the back window. So before we set up I asked Jim if he
would mind if we see if any other spots were available. There were four other spots we
could chose from. This spot with a view of the gulf and a view of sunsets was the
clear winner. So glad we asked.
As soon as we set up we set off to see the beach.
And it is a long sandy beach.
Our shadows look very long legged.
In both directions, the beach goes on and on.
I will be taking walks in both directions on this beach.
You may have to look closely, but you can see our RV in this photo.
Our RV is across the street from the beach.
Jim has been smiling since he first caught site of the Gulf from the road on the way in.
He loves the ocean. Let's hope we get some warm enough weather for some body surfing.
Tomorrow's forecast is for rain but the rest of the week will be sunny. 🌞
The Gulf did shimmer like a gift wrapped up just for him.
The sign that welcomes you to Galveston on the bridge is already dressed for Christmas.
Earlier on our trip we drove thru Houston. It was so much city
after driving thru miles and miles of ranches.
The southern side is about an hour from us so future trips
will bring us back here, including a visit to the Houston Space Center.
There is a clubhouse here as well as pickle ball court,
horseshoe pits and a half court for basketball.
A lazy river pool and a regular pool.
Those just may all make future posts.
Since we are here for a month I will post every so often
as we see and do things worth sharing.
the wind and the surf
The space center is far out! Definitely worth the visit. Just pace yourself and take in stages.
