Falling Waters State Park, Florida
October 13, 2020
Today we drove to Falling Waters State Park, home of the tallest waterfall in Florida.
It was a short hike from our campsite to the falls.
Doesn't Jim look sharp with his new haircut?
And no, we did not plan on matching colors today.
This fall is unusual, come take a look.
There are multiple sinkholes here, the one under the creek created the waterfall.
The trail gives 3 separate viewing platforms for the falls
The view from the upper platform does not reveal the sinkhole.
The view from the lower platform reveals the 100 foot sinkhole.
Looking down into the sinkhole at the falls,
a partial rainbow,
and unfortunately two red cones down at the bottom.
And a close-up of the falls could be renamed Bearclaw Falls,
at least today when it had 5 outlets for the water.
The final platform allows for a wide shot from the trees.
And one final shot of the sun shining on the falls.
Here is another sinkhole by the falls but with no creek falling into it,
so it doesn't even get a name.
And another sinkhole
with a tree growing out of it.
Here is something from the forest floor
Do you know what it is?
What tree did it fall out of?
This sign tells you that the object in the last photo fell from a Magnolia tree
It is the brown cone with red seeds that fall in the Fall.
Yes it is Fall here in Florida and it was 88 degrees today.
Here is the magnificent Southern Magnolia
It is about ten times the size of my Magnolia at home.

Aaah, a cold front came through last night and it's not oppressively humid today.
We opened up the RV and aired it out all day.
It is now 87 degrees at 5:21 pm, feels pretty darn good.
Today Jim was ready to work
He cleaned the roof of the RV.
He crawled into the storage compartment
and did some sound proofing on the water pump.
After chores, Jim was not up for a walk so I went on my own.
I went back to the falls and read some.
I continued on to Turtle Lake and read some more.
This has been a pleasant stop.
Here is a painted rock that was left on our picnic table.
Love, I pass it on to you.
