Tallulah Gorge State Park

 October 18, 2020

Sunday morning in the Wal-Mart parking lot,

thankful for mass on video from Our Lady of The Wayside.

Went into the store for some apple fritters (breakfast of champions)

and some ant traps (have seen a few ants in the rig)

who are trying to hitch a ride with us.

Drove a mere 50 miles to Tallulah Gorge State Park.

The place is full of people, its crazy with trailers coming and going

into the campground.  The check-in clerk said it's like this all of the time.

This time we have a pull-thru site with a concrete picnic table
fire ring and grill.  It's skinny but we fit.

Time to go hike the gorge.
First stop is the Tallulah Dam, one pipe flowing
all gates closed.  The force of the water did look
like a lacy bridal veil.

Tinges of Fall color are starting to show

L'Eau d'Or Falls
French for Water of Gold
We are very happy with Tallulah Gorge State Park
Jim looking calm on the bridge.

Rose pretending to be calm on the bridge.

What's 221 steps down and then back up again?
and yes then we will do the 347 steps up to the South Rim trail.
Hurricane Falls at the bottom of all those stairs.

still smiling after descending 221 steps

Devil's Pulpit Pool

Now you get to keep looking at pictures
Jim and I now climb 568 stairs to see
L'Eau d'Or Falls from above

fall color, gorge, falling water
the stairs were worth it

Oceana Falls to Tallulah River

Here's a video from one of the overlooks

Karl Wallenda tightrope walked over the Grand Chasm in 1970.
He did two headstands during his walk over the gorge.
This is the North Tower , knocked over, off the four bases.

We are still smiling after all those steps.
Here's a layout of the gorge area.
Hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures of our hike today.
